National Public Defense Workload Study Released

The National Public Defense Workload Study is a comprehensive examination of public defense caseloads, undertaken collaboratively by institutions such as the RAND Corporation, the National Center for State Courts, the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Legal Aid and Indigent Defendants, along with the participation of Attorney Stephen F. Hanlon. This study marks a significant update to a document that had not seen revisions for over a decade, addressing the pressing need to reevaluate public defense caseloads in the United States.
Legal professionals and the broader community are encouraged to review the findings. Access to the full study is available via RAND’s official portal.
